for developers and tinkerers
One POST, every speaker.
Quak is the API between your code and your Sonos. Text-to-speech in over 1,000 voices, 250 sounds, your own clips and files, with a clean REST API, a CLI and live status over a WebSocket.
Free to start with 500 credits. API and CLI are included in every plan.
curl https://api.quak.party/v1/play/text \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $QUAK_API_KEY" \

Where your code gets a voice.
- CIcurl
“Build 1842 failed on main. It was Kevin.”
One step at the end of your pipeline. Pick a voice, add the stadium ambience for green builds.
- cron, 0 17 * * 5CLI
“It's Friday, five o'clock. Push nothing to production.”
quak text in a crontab, a script or a Makefile. It updates itself and works on macOS, Linux and Windows.
- Home AssistantREST
“The washing machine is done.”
A REST command in your automation, and every speaker in the house knows. Or only the basement.
- Your AI agentCLI
“I'm done with the refactor. All tests pass.”
Coding agents can run the CLI in their shell and tell you when they're finished, or when they need you.

Fair usage
Credits per announcement, not per speaker. Nothing reached, nothing charged. Quiet hours skip for free.

Questions you might have
How do I get an API key?
Sign up, then create a key in the app or log in with the CLI (quak login). Keys are per device or tool, and you can delete them any time.
Is there a rate limit?
Yes, a fair one that protects the speakers and the service. Normal automations never hit it.
Is there an SDK?
Yes, @quak/js for Node, Bun, Deno and the browser: npm i @quak/js. For other languages, the OpenAPI schema generates a typed client in a minute.
Can I run it without the cloud?
Quak talks to your speakers through the official Sonos API, so it needs the internet. In return it works from anywhere, not just your network.
Make some noise from your code.
